Frequently asked questions

What can I expect in the first session?

Our first session is a chance for us to explore what brings you to therapy, discuss your goals, and see whether working together feels like a good fit. It’s completely collaborative and there’s no pressure to continue if it doesn’t feel right for you.

How often are sessions and how long is each session ?

Most clients choose weekly sessions, but we can adjust the frequency to suit your needs. Sessions typically last 50 or 90 minutes, depending on what feels right for you. For some EMDR sessions I recommend 90 minutes to allow sufficient time to process memories as much as possible and to help reduce distress quicker.

How much does therapy cost?

I know that therapy can feel like a big commitment, both in terms of time and finances. However, I want to assure you that it is an investment in yourself and your future wellbeing – and you absolutely deserve it. My goal is to ensure that our work together provides real value to your life and that you are confident that we are making positive, long-lasting changes.

Below you’ll find my price list for sessions:

In-person (Islington Therapy House): £120 (50 mins) / £180 (90 mins)

Online: £100 (50 mins) / £150 (90 mins)

How many sessions do I need?

This varies from person to person. Many of my clients notice progress within the first 6 sessions, and typically continue for 12–20 sessions, depending on the nature of their concerns and personal goals.

Do you offer concession rates?

If cost is a concern, please feel free to discuss this with me. I aim to make therapy accessible and am happy to talk through options with you.

Do you accept insurance or health plans?

At present, I work privately and do not accept insurance. However, I’m happy to provide invoices if you are eligible for reimbursement through your provider.

What is your cancellation policy?

I will always be as flexible as I can be. However, please be aware of the following:

  • Please give at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or missed sessions will be charged the full session fee.

  • For in-person sessions, I require 72 hours’ notice to avoid room rental fees.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes — our work together is confidential, and I follow the professional and ethical guidelines of the BABCP. The only exceptions are where there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or if required by law. I also discuss cases (without identifying details) in supervision to ensure high-quality care.

I live outside of the UK, can you still help me?

Yes, I can offer online therapy to clients based outside of the UK. My indemnity insurance covers me for worldwide online consultations, with the exception of clients based in the USA or Canada. If you're unsure whether I can work with you in your location, feel free to get in touch and I’ll be happy to advise.

Do you offer crisis support?

I don’t provide crisis support. If you’re in immediate distress or need urgent help, please contact one of the following:

  • Samaritans – Call 116 123 (free, 24/7) or visit www.samaritans.org

  • NHS Mental Health Helpline – Call 111 and choose the mental health option

  • Your GP – They can help you access urgent mental health support

  • Emergency services – If you or someone else is at immediate risk, call 999 or go to your nearest A&E

You are not alone, and help is available.

Do you offer in person and online therapy?

Yes — I offer both. In person sessions are at Islington Therapy House, online sessions are held securely via Microsoft Teams. Remote sessions tend to be more affordable, as they do not incure a room fee. In terms on outcomes and recovery, both face-to-face and remote sessions are equally effective for most people.

I've had the most inciteful and empowering support from Anna, to whom I am eternally grateful for. I highly recommend her to anyone who feels the challenges of life are too unbearable to manage. Thanks for your wonderful advice, patience, care and commitment to changing the lives of those who need a helping hand. I've learnt ways to cope more effectively and started to reclaim my life.
