What I can help you with

There are so many different therapists and therapies out there, it can be challenging to know what the best type of support is for you. We are all unique and experience life and its challenges differently, yet there are some evidence-based therapies - including CBT and EMDR - that we know can make a real difference if you struggle with certain difficulties.

I want you to feel confident that you can make real progress with me. So, here is a simple guide to the types of issues I work with every day. This is not an exhaustive list, but if these sound familiar to you, I can help.

Trauma, PTSD & Complex PTSD

I can help and support you if you:

  • Have difficulties moving forward with your life following traumatic or distressing events that happened to you

  • Have nightmares, flashbacks and/or distressing images about your traumatic experiences

  • Find it hard to talk or think about your trauma

  • Sometimes feel or act as if you were re-experiencing the trauma

  • Often feel triggered in day-to-day life

  • Avoid reminders of your trauma

  • Notice an impact on your relationships or other related aspects of your life

  • Feel guilt, shame, anxiety, disgust, anger or sadness

  • Constantly feel on edge or feel completely numb

  • Sometimes blank out or switch off

  • Struggle to sleep

I want you to know that these are all normal responses to highly distressing events.

Over the years, I have supported many people in working through their traumatic experiences - processing painful memories, resolving their emotional impact and helping them move forward to live fuller, freer lives.

I don’t believe there is only one definition of trauma. If you feel something that happened to you was so distressing that you are struggling to cope with it, I am here to support you.

I work with all traumas, no matter if they happened in childhood or adulthood, no matter if it was a one-off incident or if your trauma was repeated and long-lasting.

I am trained in various trauma-focussed therapies, including trauma-focussed CBT, EMDR, NET and compassion focussed therapy. We will decide together what the best approach is to help you heal from your trauma.

Eating Disorders & Poor Body Image

I can help and support you if you:

  • Struggle with binge eating or emotional eating

  • Often lose control around food

  • Spend a lot of time thinking about food

  • Make yourself vomit, take laxatives or engage in excessive exercise

  • Struggle with your weight and how you feel about your body

  • Restrict your food intake

  • Have low self-esteem and poor body image

  • Feel anxious about eating

  • Feel shame and guilt after eating or about your body

  • Are a “picky eater” or struggle with certain textures of food

  • Had traumatic experiences linked to food, eating, weight or body image

I work with individuals who suffer from Binge Eating Disorder, Bulimia, Atypical Anorexia (BMI over 17.5), ARFID and OSFED. I do not currently work with clients who are severely underweight, as I believe that a multi-disciplinary approach will help you most in your recovery.

You do not need a diagnosis to work with me. You do not even need to know or have accepted that you are struggling with an eating disorder, if you struggle with your relationship with eating, shape or weight, we can find a way to help you.

No matter how long-standing your eating disorder has been - I have seen people make meaningful changes, gain insight into what keeps their cycle going, and start to build a healthier and more compassionate relationship with food and their body.

I am trained in a number of specialist therapies for eating disorders, including CBT-E, CBT-T, CBT-AR and Compassion-Focused Therapy. We will decide together what the best approach is to help you recover and heal.

I can help and support you if you struggle with:

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and unwanted, intrusive thoughts

  • Panic attacks or panic disorder

  • Agoraphobia

  • Generalised anxiety disorder (GAD) and excessive worry

  • Social anxiety

  • Health anxiety

  • Specific phobias

  • Perfectionism and fear of failure

  • Low self-esteem or low self-confidence

  • Imposter syndrome

  • Burnout & Stress

  • Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD)

  • Depression and mood-related issues

  • Big life changes that are making you feel anxious

CBT, ERP and EMDR are all evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders, and I have extensive experience supporting individuals to manage anxiety symptoms, reduce distress, and feel more in control of their lives.

Whether your anxiety is long-standing or has developed more recently, we can work together to understand what’s driving and maintaining it, and develop strategies to help you manage it.

While learning tools to manage anxiety can be an important part of therapy, my aim goes beyond symptom control. Where possible, I work with you to reduce anxiety at its root - so that over time, there’s less need to rely on strategies to cope.

My approach is compassionate, structured, and collaborative. I use effective therapies like CBT, ERP, EMDR, ACT and Compassion-Focused Therapy to help you make meaningful and lasting change.

Together, we’ll choose a therapy approach that fits your goals and moves at a pace that feels right for you.

Anxiety disorders & Other Problems

I have learned so much about myself and my eating disorder, and have made changes that I have been struggling to do for the majority of my life. Thanks so much!

At first, I was worried I would fall back into depression when Anna suggested it would be important to work on my trauma. I’m so thankful for trusting Anna – she helped me feel safe enough to unpack my trauma in a way that did not trigger me more than I could tolerate. I ended up feeling myself again and was able to get back into work.
